Time-to-Quality:
Practical Information

The courses are held online via Microsoft Teams - join from anywhere in the world.

There will be a maximum of 12 participants per session.

Participants work with own designs – value generated during and immediately after course

Virtual break-out rooms (by company) – no confidential information shared with other participants

Soft Benefits:

Common language and metrics
Data-driven decision-making for interface design and DFM optimisation
Close-up of a blue neon 'R08' sign on a reflective surface with blurred foreground foliage.
Factory assembly line with rows of white medical devices with blue bands and a worker in protective clothing in the background.

Time-to-Quality: Highlights

Learn to avoid design mistakes made by 500 mechanical engineers and get help from software automatically detecting design issues
Courses offered by the RD8. Engineering Academy are rated 4.5 out of 5.0 by the more than 1.000 program graduates.
Typical participants are engineers involved in the product development process from concept over design and industrialization to manufacturing and assembly.
Curriculum also covers part and interface optimisation to drive tolerance and DFM benefits – reduced number of specifications and eased tolerance grades
Curriculum includes series of interactive exercises and confidential discussion of your current design project with the expert faculty members
Once certified, your future designs will typically see fewer failures modes and risks (eliminated by design) and be created in a more efficient process (fewer iterations to reach performance target).

Time-to-quality Modules

The RD8 Engineering Academy Time-to-Quality Path consists of 3 modules - Essential, Core and Practice. If you complete both Essential and Core, you will get a Robust Design Certification.
Practice is a seventh session after certification, where we analyse your design.

Time-to-Quality: Essential

Understand the Robust Design Principles and learn to apply basic principles of Kinematic design.

In this module the RD8 Robust Design Framework is introduced and we demonstrate how fundamental principles of kinematic design support reliable and efficient product architectures.

Learning Objectives

Learn the fundamentals of Robust Design and its importance in product development.
Understand the RD8 Framework, a structured approach to implementing Robust Design principles.
Explore the three core disciplines of Robust Design to ensure product reliability.
Conduct interface analysis to identify and communicate critical interactions between components.
Evaluate ideal kinematic product architecture for mechanical efficiency.
Analyse product function and sensitivity to variations in design parameters.
Learn to prioritize and organize development processes based on data-driven decision-making.

Time-to-Quality: Core

Learn to analyse products and evaluate mechanical designs with the RD8 Framework.

During the course participants will use the RD8 Software to identify, prioritize, and resolve critical robustness issues based on the four types of potential problems.

After completion of both the Essential and Core modules, participants will get a Robust Design Certification, and 30 days use of the RD8 Software.

Learning Objectives

Learn to manage advanced system complexities in product development.
Gain expertise in handling special kinematic elements to enhance mechanical performance.
Understand the importance of evaluating different product states to improve robustness.
Utilize the RD8 Product Development Platform to analyze and optimize designs.
Advance to detailed design analysis, refining product robustness at a higher level.
Apply flexibility in functional feature design to increase predictability and adaptability.

Time-to-Quality: Practice

After certification, you can book a seventh session where we analyse one of your designs and help apply what you have learnt on your designs.

Learning Objectives

Apply the Robust Design principles to your own designs.
