The RD8 Geometry Engine
At the heart of the Ecosystem is the Software. Our web platform enables product professionals to manage and execute every aspect of their mechanical designs, using established robust design principles, in a new, fresh, and user-friendly way.
The platform is powered by a 3D analysis service written in C++ by our algorithm team. It services the platform with geometric parameterisation and various accompanying geometric analyses of the user’s 3D model such as contact detection and interface constraint analyses. This is where all the most complex and interesting problems are encountered, that you will have the pleasure of participating in solving.
The Team
RD8 is composed of two companies: Technology and Consulting. You will be joining Technology, which currently consists of a CEO, geometry/algorithm and web developers, sharing a sales team with Consulting. The Consulting team consists of around 30 employees, mainly mechanical engineers, who support Technology with SME competence and Customer Success.
The collaboration between the two companies is part of what makes RD8 special. We have subject matter experts side-by-side with software developers, always exchanging ideas and perspectives on how to create the best possible user experience.
In general, the teams are quite young, and we really enjoy spending time with each other, including after office hours. We arrange monthly social activities as well as larger seasonal events. All things social are of course completely optional, but we hope you will join in!
What You Will Be Doing
You will join the Algorithm team as a software developer working primarily in C++. Your tasks will range from expanding on and maintaining existing solutions to developing new algorithms for solving highly complex, some might say “unsolvable”, problems.
To fully exploit our Ecosystem, help shape the product to the very best it can be, you will collaborate closely with the Platform team and Consultants, as well as actively engage with users and stakeholders.

What We Expect From You
- A technical background with solid fundamentals in mathematical modelling and computing, potentially including one or more of the following:
- Computational mechanics and topology optimization
- Operations Research and optimization
- Computer graphics and rendering
- Computational geometry and meshing
- Ability to work both collaboratively and independently
- Curiosity and eagerness to dive into new complex problems with a can-do attitude
- An interest in combining mathematical concepts, programming and creative thinking for innovation
- Experience with C++ or similar systems programming languages
- Proficiency in Git and Git workflows
- Experience with project management
- Industry/academic experience is beneficial, but not required
