DevOps Engineer

WORKING AT RD8.
We are a young team made up of software engineers, mechanical engineers, designers, and other smart people. We really enjoy spending time with each other -- including after office hours. We have monthly social events in addition to the more typical seasonal ones. All things social are of course completely optional, but we hope you will join in!
ABOUT RD8.
We are on a mission to enable product professionals across the globe to create better and more sustainable products. The products that surround us every day, from your phone to the equipment required to provide critical medicine to patients in need.
To make the performance of these products as reliable as possible, we have created a unique Engineering Ecosystem encapsulating knowledge sharing, training, documentation, and, last but not least, innovative software solutions. We service R&D, Operations, and Manufacturing organizations with digital tools, process integration, and implementation services, making sustainable innovation operational, systematic, and scalable – in any industry.
THE PLATFORM
At the heart of the Ecosystem is the Product Development Platform. The web platform enables product professionals to manage and execute every aspect of their mechanical designs, using established robust design principles, in a new, fresh, and user-friendly way.
The platform is primarily built with TypeScript and runs on Google Cloud. The infrastructure is managed using Terraform. For the frontend, we use React with MUI and Apollo. For the backend, we have a slew of Node services, the primary one being our GraphQL API. The platform is powered by a 3D analysis service written in C++ by our algorithm team.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
You will spearhead the DevOps aspect of the RD8 Product Development Platform, driving performant services and foreseeing future bottlenecks as we grow to more users. You will be responsible for monitoring and improving our cloud environments, our CI/CD pipelines and test setups, as well as our local development workflows. Finally, we expect you to take responsibility for maintaining our security posture and compliance efforts, for which we use modern compliance management tools. Ideally, you will also find joy in developing the software itself, so you can help the rest of the team deliver great features to our clients.
WHAT WE EXPECT FROM YOU
- Experience with developing and maintaining cloud infrastructure, preferably in GCP using Terraform
- Experience with Docker and GitLab CI/CD (or similar, e.g., GitHub Actions)
- Proficiency with Git and Git workflows
- Experience with or interest and willingness to learn about and work with data security compliance frameworks such as ISO27001 or similar. You don't need prior experience with this, just curiosity and readiness to grow skills in the area.
- Ability to work both collaboratively and independently, be creative and open for new ideas, and work with high dedication and self-motivation
- Solid programming skills in various scripting languages
- Bonus points if you have experience with running hybrid solutions (SaaS + on-premise)
